Commissioning in the recommended order
The following checklist is the common thread for commissioning.
No. | Step | Explanatory chapter |
|---|---|---|
1 | Set operating mode: EtherCAT mode or Ethernet mode. | |
2 | Define topology and port usage: Which ports are used and in which direction does the connection work? | |
3 | Choose a suitable SFP for the remote station: Check data rate, encoding, wavelength, fiber type, range, connector type and BiDi pairing if necessary. | |
4 | Check the thermal power budget: Evaluate current consumption or power loss of the SFP and ambient temperature. | |
5 | Check optical power budget and wiring: Evaluate transmission power, receive sensitivity, attenuation, saturation and fiber distance. | |
6 | Set the rotary switch to the desired mode. Setting is applied when the device is restarted. | |
7 | Establish connection and check link. | Putting EtherCAT mode into operation or Putting Ethernet mode into operation |
8 | For EtherCAT: Integrate device into TwinCAT, check process data and provide a separate SyncManager for robust SFP diagnostics. | Putting EtherCAT mode into operation and SFP diagnostics during operation (DDM) |
9 | Check SFP identity information and encoding in the CoE (from HW02). | |
10 | Evaluate DDM/SFP diagnostics for ongoing operation and check limit values (from HW02). | |
11 | In the event of faults, check systematically using typical fault patterns. |
