Set rotary switch and define encoding
The rotary switch fixes the operating mode, port sequence or direction and thus the behavior of the CU1521-0020.
In EtherCAT mode, X1, X2 and X3 are active in the order indicated by the rotary switch.
In Ethernet mode, only X1 and X3 are active.
In Ethernet mode, the direction of the arrow influences which port speed is traded down to the other port.
![]() | Note on setting the operating mode via the rotary switch The set operating mode is only adopted when the CU1521-0020 is switched on. The CU1521-0020 must therefore be switched off and on again. |
From HW02/FW06, the Ethernet encoding of the SFP can be selected under 0x80n0:11, provided the SFP used supports this.
Fig.45: 0x80n0:11: Force Ethernet encodingEncoding setting from HW02 | Effect/application |
|---|---|
Auto | Automatic detection based on the SFP used: SFP type "100 Mbit" -> 100BaseX; SFP type "1 Gbit" -> SGMII. |
SGMII | SGMII encoding is enforced. Not supported for SFP type "100 Mbit". |
100BaseX | 100BaseX is forced; generally supported for SFP types "100 Mbit" and "1 Gbit". |
