Settings and application notes for EL3204-0200

The EL3204-0200 differs from the EL3204-0000 (standard type) in terms of an

Changes in the CoE directory, in the case of exchange

So that, in the case of exchanging an EtherCAT device, the CoE parameters are set correctly in the new device, CoE changes on the customer side must be entered in the start-up list.

Changes in the CoE directory, program access

The CoE parameters can also be read and written during operation (insofar as it makes sense) by the PLC using corresponding control commands. For details, see the corresponding articles in the Beckhoff Information System, for example.
Notice: The CoE parameters should be written in status PreOp or SafeOp, after which the slave should be switched to status OP.

Measuring range

The specified terminal precision refers to the full-scale value for the resistance measurement.

It is not advisable to use the terminal in the range 0 to 10 Ω, due to the relatively low (relative) measuring accuracy in this range. Specialized resistance measurement terminals such as the EL3692 with 4-wire measurement are to be used for such measurements.

Notes regarding accuracy

In addition to the accuracy in terminal resistance measurement, the measurement result is influenced by further factors, as described below:

  • Measuring error of the measuring sensor used
  • Measuring error of the terminal: < +/- 0.3% of full-scale value (240 kΩ for resistance measurement); < +/- 0.5°C for Pt sensors
  • Implementation of the calculation parameters in the firmware, e.g. number of sampling points, accuracy of the calculated parameters,...
  • We recommend verifying the settings against a calibrated temperature source.
