Down channel
A down channel has the function of a master channel. The channel couplings that it triggers implicitly initiate the different phases of the erosion process.
The channel couplings must be executed in a fixed sequence. The sequence for an EDM program is as follows:
- Start the main NC program in the down channel.
- Positioning
- Activate the escape channel.
- Start the erosion process on a path (optional).
- Activate the orbit channel and start the erosion process for orbiting. (optional)
- Deactivate the auxiliary channels.
- Electrode escape and end of machining
