RAS Server

RAS Server 1:

Checking device support

Check whether the RAS Server is available on the corresponding CE platform. Devices from the CX80xx series and some image versions (LF image) of the CX90xx series do not support the RAS Server.

The RAS Server is used to establish a remote connection either via a connected modem (COM port) or via an existing network connection (VPN). The following chapter explains the general setting options for the RAS Server and how you can configure a modem dial-up or a VPN connection.

General information about the RAS server

The RAS Server manages all incoming connections that can be established either via a connected modem or via the network. The illustration below shows a typical example of an RAS setup.

RAS Server 2:

The RAS Server supports two scenarios: You can either use a modem to dial up via a telephone line, or you can use the company network to establish a connection via VPN. Configuration is done using the CX Configuration Tool.
