Temperature of the brake resistor
The temperature of the braking resistor is not measured directly. It is calculated internally from the time curve of the measured current value.
Configuring the temperature calculation
The ambient temperature must be known in order to calculate the temperature of the braking resistor.
Enter the ambient temperature in parameter 8000:15 “Ambient temperature offset”. The factory setting is 50 °C.
Overtemperature shutdown
If the temperature of the braking resistor is too high, the overtemperature protection disables the chopper.
See chapter Overtemperature protection.
Activating process data
You can display the temperature of the braking resistor in the process data. To do this, activate the process data object 0x1A01.
Procedure in TwinCAT 3:
- 1. Double-click on EP9576-1032 in Solution Explorer.
- 2. Select the "Process data" tab.
- 3. In the "Sync Manager" field, click on "Inputs".
- 4. In the "PDO Assignment (0x1C13)" field, check "0x1A01".
- The process data object BCT Load is added to the process data.
