Homing method evaluation of encoder overflow
For encoder types that don’t provide a zero pulse but provide within an certain range an absolute position, resolvers for example, it is possible to use the overflow of the encoder position value as zero pulse replacement. In this case the axis is homed as soon as an over- or underflow of the encoder position is recognized.
An overflow of the position value occurs when the position delivered by the encoder while moving in a positive direction jumps from the maximum value (e. g. 65535) to zero. Analogous an underflow occurs when the encoder position value of the axis moving in a negative direction jumps from zero to the maximum value (e. g. 65535). An over- resp. underflow of the encoder position values is handled automatically by the NC-kernel.
