Setting up user accounts
Each standard CE installation on a Beckhoff controller uses NTLM (NT LAN Manager) to authenticate network accesses to the SMB Server. This means that, when accessing a directory share on your CE device, you must first authenticate yourself on the device before access is permitted. As a rule, you will be requested to enter a user name and password for this; see the following illustration:
A CE device is delivered as standard with the following user data:
- User name: administrator
- Password: 1
However, you can also set up your own user accounts and use them for access to the shares.
Proceed as follows to set up a user account:
- 1. Click Start > Control Panel > CX Configuration.
- 2. Select the FTP tab.
- 3. Right-click inside the NTLM User window.
- 4. In the dialog box, click Add User.
- 5. Issue a user name and a password.
- The new user is adopted into the list. With a right click you can enable/disable or delete the user.
- 6. Restart the system.
- You can now log in with the newly added user account.
Note:
Alternatively, you can also use the CxAddUser tool to create NTLM users; additional information can be found here.
