Setting up user accounts

Each standard CE installation on a Beckhoff controller uses NTLM (NT LAN Manager) to authenticate network accesses to the SMB Server. This means that, when accessing a directory share on your CE device, you must first authenticate yourself on the device before access is permitted. As a rule, you will be requested to enter a user name and password for this; see the following illustration:

However, you can also set up your own user accounts and use them for access to the shares.

Proceed as follows to set up a user account:

1. Click Start > Control Panel > CX Configuration.
2. Select the FTP tab.
3. Right-click inside the NTLM User window.
4. In the dialog box, click Add User.

5. Issue a user name and a password.
The new user is adopted into the list. With a right click you can enable/disable or delete the user.
6. Restart the system.
You can now log in with the newly added user account.
