KL8519
16-channel digital input/signal module
The KL8519 is a 16-channel digital input/signal module. The module has two options:
- digital input module
- digital signal module
Option 1: digital input module (default)
The status of the digital inputs is transmitted to the PLC and displayed via LEDs. They are bicolor LEDs with the colors green and red, which can be individually parameterized in the module to the needs of the plant.
The LEDs indicate the status of the inputs independently of the PLC, i.e. even if the PLC is switched off or not present, or if there is a transmission error, the LEDs display the status of the digital inputs. The way the LEDs display the status can be parameterized in the module. This can be done differently for each channel, which allows absolute flexibility.
If the digital input is a status green is recommended, if it is an error message red. Even if the error message has the value FALSE the LED can show red for it. So you have the choice between the colors red and green, you can turn off the LED and invert the display.

Option 2: digital signal module
The LEDs are only controlled by the PLC. They therefore no longer have a direct reference to the digital inputs. The status of the digital inputs is still transmitted to the controller, but is no longer displayed directly by the LEDs of the module. From the controller, you can now use the LEDs as you wish, e.g. make them flash or switch on red and green at the same time. This is exclusively in the hand of the programmer.
