Each channel can be operated either as a digital input or as a digital output.

Risk of supply voltage feedback

If you supply a connected sensor from an external voltage source, this external voltage can be fed back to UP via the digital combi channel (pin 2 or pin 4).

This means that UP can continue to be present even when the UP power supply is switched off (e.g. via emergency shutdown). The box module and other devices connected to UP may continue to be supplied with power unnoticed. Injuries and property damage are possible.

  • Only supply connected sensors from the supply voltage on pin 1.

Damage to sensitive signal transducers due to current peaks

The protective circuit of a digital input can cause an inrush current peak of well over 2 mA during the switching operation. This current spike can damage sensitive signal transducers such as reed switches.

  • When using sensitive signal transducers, insert a series resistor before the digital input to reduce the inrush current peak. E.g. 1 kΩ
