Introduction
1-channel EnDat2.2 interface with oversampling
The EL5031-0011 EnDat 2.2 EtherCAT Terminal is used for direct connection of two encoders with EnDat2.2 interface.
The bidirectional interface enables automatic reading of position values, diagnostic data, internal and external temperature values, and the electronic nameplate of the encoder. All meter-specific information is directly available with the electronic nameplate, so parameterization of the terminal is not necessary.
In addition, the EL5031-0011 provides an encoder supply of 5 V or optionally 9 V.
The terminal supports the oversampling principle. Using this method the resolution of the position value can be increased to n times the bus cycle time. The current position value is recorded several times between two fieldbus communication cycles, configurable and time-equidistant, with an adjustable integer multiple (oversampling factor: n) of the bus cycle time.
The transfer of a package of n position values of either 48 bits or 32 bits each to the higher-level, higher-order controller takes place in the next fieldbus communication cycle. The minimum sampling time here is 25 µs (maximum sampling frequency 40 ksps).
The oversampling principle enables fine-resolution position detection, which means that even small movements can be detected.
In addition, it is possible to create user-defined data in the encoder's memory, which enables cost-effective and shortened commissioning.
Depending on the resolution of the connected encoder, the position value is output with up to 48 bits. In addition to the position value, further information such as status information, addresses and data can be transferred. The parameters contain a list of the additional information supported by the encoder.
