Vision Service doesn't start

Situation

The TwinCAT Vision Service doesn't start. This can be seen by the connection status "Offline" on the Service Configuration tab in the VISION node.

Solution

If the TwinCAT Version Service only fails to start once or fails, it can be reactivated with a TwinCAT restart (click Vision Service doesn't start 2:).

However, if it generally fails to start (after the system startup), the service must be re-registered as a TwinCAT service. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Switch TwinCAT to the Config mode Vision Service doesn't start 3:
2. Open a prompt as an administrator.

3. Switch to the corresponding folder via "cd C:\TwinCAT\3.1\Components\Vision\TcVision".
4. Execute the "TcVnService.exe /tc3serverreg" command to start the Vision Service.
5. Confirm the subsequent dialog by clicking Yes.
Vision Service doesn't start 5:
The Vision Service is started.

TwinCAT must be in Config mode so that the Vision service can be started. Therefore, the machine must be restarted if the Vision service is to be restarted.

If the Vision service is to be manually stopped, you can use the command "TcVnService.exe /unregtc3server".
