Stream settings

The third and final configuration part for the TwinCAT Analytics Logger is the level of the actual streams. This is the level where, for example, symbols, data compression and much more can be defined.

A basic distinction is made between cyclic streams and specific streams. Cyclic streams record data in the control cycle, i.e. with task cycle time. This clock synchronicity offers the best performance. Specific streams basically pursue a different type of data acquisition that is specifically linked to the purpose. For example, IPC diagnostics is a specific stream in which data is also communicated cyclically, but is retrieved by the controller using the polling method. Again, this is not as precise as with a cyclic stream from the PLC, but is not as crucial for the context of PLC diagnostics, where, for example, the CPU load is communicated.

The stream settings are divided between these tabs.

  1. Symbol selection - depending on the stream type
  2. Online status
  3. Data Handling
  4. Stream Info
