Notes
- The order identifier is made up of
- family key
- type
- version - The revision indicates the technical progress and is
managed by Beckhoff.
In principle, a device with a higher revision can replace a device with a lower revision, unless specified otherwise.
Each revision usually has an associated XML description (ESI, EtherCAT Slave information), which is available for download from the Beckhoff webpage. - Type, version and revision are read as decimal numbers.

Serial number
Beckhoff EtherCAT devices usually have an 8-digit serial number, which is printed on the device or attached to it on a sticker. This serial number indicates the construction condition on delivery.
Syntax of the serial number
Structure of the serial number: KK YY FF HH
KK - week of production (CW, calendar week)
YY - year of production
FF - firmware version
HH - hardware version
Example with ser. no.: 12 06 3A 02:
12 - week of production 12
06 - year of production 2006
3A - firmware version 3A
02 - hardware version 02
