TwinCAT Automation Device Specification (ADS)
ADS stands for "Automation Device Specification" and describes a device- and fieldbus-independent interface. This interface got designed by Beckhoff, and is - including the protocol - in detail documented. The ADS components get installed together with TwinCAT 3. For integration into own applications and tools there are ADS components (C/C++, .NET) available from Beckhoff, free of charge.
TwinCAT Automation Interface
The TwinCAT Automation Interface enables the automatic creation and manipulation of TwinCAT XAE configurations via (script) code. The automation of a TwinCAT configuration is mainly available through two automation interfaces and can be used from all COM-capable high level languages and also from dynamic script languages.
TwinCAT AML Data Exchange
The TwinCAT 3 AML data exchange therefore enables the automatic creation of a topology by importing the data from the ECAD tool.
EtherCAT Automation Protocol
The EtherCAT Automation Protocol (EAP) device enables the cyclic, highly deterministic exchange of any desired variables between PCs that are connected by Ethernet. Communication between EAP devices takes place according to the Publisher/Subscriber principle and is specified by the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) (ETG 1005 – see webpage www.ethercat.org).
Multiuser
The TwinCAT Multiuser mainly facilitates collaboration of several programmers, with each programmer working on one PLC project
Project Compare Tool
The TwinCAT 3 Project Compare Tool is an application program that can be used to compare and merge TwinCAT3 projects.
Remote Manager
The TwinCAT3 Remote Manager enables the handling of various versions of the TwinCAT 3 development environment on the same computer.
Software Protection
The TwinCAT 3 Software Protection provides TwinCAT 3 Engineering with functions for protecting the OEM application software on Beckhoff IPCs
