Tool life monitoring

In the acquisition of the tool life values, the contact time (service life) and the distance covered during the contact (service distance) of a tool must be calculated. The determined values are sent to the tool management.

Only the movement of motion blocks shall be considered here. Rapid traverse positioning shall not influence the life count variables.

The interpolator displays the data (Tool-ID, contact time, contact distance) after the tool has been exchanged.

The service life is recorded in ms, the service distance is recorded in mm.

A possibility of weighting the tool life variables shall be provided in the NC program. The factor that is to be introduced is used for adapting the acquisition of the tool life variables to the tool utilization.

Example:

A tool that is always in contact should be weighted with a factor of 100%. If, however, material is only removed at half the motion distance, a weighting factor of 0.5 can be used in the calculation.

The default value of the service time and service distance weighting factors is 1.0.
