C-axis machining
This functionality supplements the existing turning functions and enables the face and lateral surface machining of cylindrical work pieces on lathes and milling machines with revolving base. In this process, the work piece is moved by the rotatory axis or a spindle (C-axis), and the driven tool (such as a cutter) is moved by the two translatory axes X (or Y) and Z. For the C-axis machining specific settings in the parameters [1]-53, [2]-9 are necessary.
Facing and lateral surface machining can be described in cartesian coordinates.
All interpolation types (such as linear, circular, or spline interpolation) are supported on the end face and on the lateral surface. The functionality also enables path contours that run across the turning center. For lathes it is machined with automatic alignment of the C axis.
The 2.5-D tool radius compensation can be used with the familiar G commands.
With contours near the turning center using the extended dynamic monitoring function prevents that dynamic axis characteristics are exceeded.
