Creating a TCP connection for remote tools

This page describes how a TCP connection can be established with CE devices in order to be able to use remote tools such as Remote Debugging, Remote Registry Editor, Remote File Explorer and so on.

Requirements:

The following steps are necessary in order to establish a connection to the target device:

1. In the Tools menu, select Configure Platform Manager...
2. Open the Windows CE Default Platform node
3. Select the entry for your device (example: HMI_500_V1.1 Device)
4. Click Properties.

5. Select a transmission type in the Transport box.

6. You must select TCP/IP Transport for Windows CE at this point.
7. Select Configure here.

8. Configure the settings for the transport.
9. Enter the IP address of your host PC.
10. Confirm this action with OK.
11. Back in the previous dialog, you can test the connection by selecting "Test".

12. Follow the instructions Launch CEMGRC.exe with the command line on the CE device.

13. Click Start > Run… on the CE device
14. Enter CEMGRC.exe /t:….
15. Quit the dialog with OK
If you have also confirmed with OK on the host PC, the connection is established and the host PC and the CE device are connected to each other. The remote tools can now be used
