Configuring the system time
The necessary time configuration can be done with the Beckhoff software on the CE device.
Proceed as follows:
- 1. Click Start > Control Panel > CX Configuration.
- 2. Select the Miscellaneous tab.
- The settings for the SNTP protocol are located here.
Note:
The SNTP protocol uses the TCP port 123 by default. This port may on no account be blocked by the firewall.
- 3. In the SNTP Server box, enter the IP address or name of the computer that is acting as the time server.
- 4. In the Refresh rate box, select the time interval at which the cyclic time synchronization should take place.
Comments:
Once the settings have been made for Time zone or Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving, it may take up to 40 seconds for the time to be synchronized by the SNTP server.
Changes to Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving necessitate a reboot of the CE device in order to enable trouble-free work.
Proceed as follows:
- 5. Click Start > Run…
- 6. Enter cmd.
- 7. Confirm this action with OK.
- 8. Enter the following in the line:
services refresh ntp0:
- 9. Also enter this in the file \hard disk\system\autoexec.cmd so that it is executed each time the device is started.
