Replacing storage media

If one of your storage media fails during operation, you can restore the RAID system with the aid of the Intel Manager. To do this, you need to replace the failed storage medium with a new one.

Replacing storage media with Intel Rapid Storage Manager

To replace a storage medium of a RAID system with Intel Rapid Storage Manager, follow the steps below:

1. Click Start > All Programs > Intel > Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
The existing RAID system appears in the window. A malfunction is indicated by a warning sign over a faulty or removed storage medium. The new storage medium, which was installed as replacement, is shown below.
2. Click on Rebuild to another disk to integrate the new storage medium in the RAID system.

3. Select the option Disk on port 0 and click on Rebuild.
You have successfully replaced a damaged storage medium and restored the RAID system. The progress of the restoration is indicated in percent.

Replacing storage media with Intel Optane Memory and Storage Manager

To replace a storage medium of a RAID system with Intel Optane Memory and Storage Manager, follow the steps below:

1. Click Start > Intel Optane Memory and Storage Manager.
The existing RAID system appears in the window. A malfunction is indicated by a warning. The new storage medium installed as a replacement is displayed under the existing RAID system.
2. Click the new storage medium and then click Mark as spare to integrate the new storage medium into the RAID system.

3. Confirm that all data may be deleted from the new disk and that the disk should be integrated into the RAID system by clicking Make a spare .
