Using the key

The recovery key is required and is requested by Windows as soon as an unsafe condition is detected. The recovery key may be queried in the following situations, for example:

1. The encrypted data carrier is inserted into another Industrial PC.
2. The Industrial PC boots up and Windows detects a change in the hardware.
3. The recovery key request is triggered by a hardware change to prevent unauthorized access to the data carrier.
4. The data carrier will not be decrypted until the key is entered.
Windows starts as usual.

If you want to use unattended startup with the encrypted system partition on the new IPC, the TPM of the other IPC must have been deleted and disabled before the recovery key is entered.
