Brief description

During homing of a machine axis, the actual position value system of the machine axis is synchronised with the machine's and the CNC's axis coordinate systems.

Effectiveness

All machine axes must be referenced if they are to be positioned and they do not possess an encoder that supplies an absolute actual position value.

Speed-controlled or only endlessly rotating position-controlled spindles do not need to be referenced.

Homing (RPT) is possible for the following axis types (P-AXIS-00018):

Parameterization

Homing must be parameter-defined for each axis in the axis parameter list.

Commanding

Homing is commanded either by means of the NC command G74 or by starting the operating mode homing [HLI].

Brief description 1:

Axis position after homing

The axis is not at its reference point after homing. The reason for this is that the reference position is adopted when the cam/zero pulse signal occurs and the axis is then braked. Therefore, at the end of homing the axis is next to the reference position by the braking distance.
