Output current (derating), IP/IE2512

When using the PWM modules with hardware revision D.xxxxxx00, the power loss in the modules has to be taken in account.

The power loss consists of 3 different components and can be 1W max. (P = PI + Pf + PL).

  1. current dependent power loss
    PI = Imax2 x 0,15 Ohm
  2. frequency dependent power loss
    Pf = U x Imax x 10-6sec x f
  3. inductive feed back
    PL = Imax2 x L / (2 x f)

Key
Imax: max output current (duty cycle has to be calculated into it)
U: output voltage
f: frequency
L: inductivity

The inductive component is released via a 39 V internal diode. By an external Schottky diode with the right power loss range and min. 45V, the energy can be released externally. The cathode of the diode has to be connected to Pin 4, the anode to pin 3.

The two diagrams show the possible frequency / output current ratios for different duty cycles.
