EP2338-2002

There are two channels on each M12 socket. Each channel can be operated individually as a digital input or as a digital output.

All channels are functionally identical, but are connected in groups to different potentials that are electrically isolated from each other:

The following figures show connection examples and pin assignments for the two groups.

X01/X02 as digital input

EP2338-2002 1:

X01/X02 as digital output

Notice

Digital outputs active despite shutdown of UP (X01, X02)

The digital inputs/outputs of EtherCAT Box modules are usually supplied from UP. This enables the collective shutdown of all outputs by switching UP off.

The digital outputs at X01 and X02 of the EP2338-2002 are supplied from US. They therefore remain active even if UP is switched off externally.

EP2338-2002 2:

X03/X04 as digital input

Notice

Digital inputs without function if UP is missing (X03, X04)

The digital inputs of EtherCAT Box modules are usually supplied from US.
The digital inputs at X03 and X04 of the EP2338-2002 are supplied from UP.

If the supply voltage UP is missing, a constant low-level of the digital inputs at X03 and X04 is displayed in the process data, even if a high level is present.
