Configuring a fieldbus master

Selecting a Profibus fieldbus master card

It is assumed that the user is familiar with the procedure for inserting a Profibus device (an EL6731 fieldbus master card/fieldbus master terminal) in the TwinCAT System Manager. Once installation is complete and all bus devices are operational, use Scan Devices in Config mode or the option Insert Device -> Profibus DP via the context menu in the I/O devices tree. If the configuration doesn't take on the target device (or without the fieldbus master being connected to your PC), you can acknowledge the dialog "Device found at address" with "Cancel". The card address can then be determined later during commissioning.

Possible devices are offered, depending on selected target system (only PC, CX, BX, All). The sample refers to an FC31xx PCI fieldbus master card; if an EL6731 is used the description applies accordingly.

Select the suitable I/O device (in this case Profibus master FC31xx PCI). Operation with a Profibus master EL6731 via EtherCAT is tested with 2 CU.

Configuring Profibus DP

The Profibus master card is configured via the tab FC31xx. This can only be done during commissioning when the fieldbus is running and operational and all elements are configured:

(1) The card address must be determined later during commissioning. The firmware version of the FC310x Profibus card should be 2.58 or higher, for the FC3151 2.5b or higher.
(2) The station address of the fieldbus master is preset to 1. Avoid address conflicts with other devices (e.g. a programming device with the STARTER software) and check the baud rate setting (12 M).
(3) The mode must be set to DP/MC (Equidistant).

(4) Use the Bus Parameter (DP) button to activate GAP update (multimaster) via the dialog
(5) in order to enable operation of a programming devices at the Profibus for parallel configuration of the STARTER software
