EL3172 - Introduction

EL3172 - Introduction 1:
EL3172

Analog Input Terminal; 2 channel, multi-function, ±10 V, ±20 mA, 16 bit

The EL3172 analog input terminal supplements the EL3174, thus 2-channel and 4-channel universal input terminals are now available in the EL31xx family. The EL3172 has two single parameterizable inputs. Signals in the range ±10 V or ±25 mA can be processed by each channel, therefore of course also unipolar 0…10 V or 0/4…20 mA.

Each channel should be set by the controller to U or I mode via CoE. The input voltage or current is digitized with a resolution of 16 bits, and is transmitted (electrically isolated) to the higher-level automation device.

With a technical measuring range of ±107 % of the nominal range 10 V/20 mA and the 25 mA measuring range, the terminal also supports the commissioning with sensor values in the limit range and the evaluation according to NAMUR NE43. The two differential inputs are electrically isolated from each other and from the fieldbus.

EL3172 - Introduction 2:

107% Extended Range

The EL3172 is preconfigured to a measurement range of 107% (e.g. 0x7FFF correspond to +10.737 V or 3.22 V accordingly). Via CoE access can be reset to the previously known legacy range. Then 0x7FFF correspond to the full scale value or e.g. 10 V (3 V) as before.
