The diagrams at the bottom show the output values of the measurement ranges and the behavior if the limit ranges are exceeded.
EL3072, EL3074 Scaler: Extended Range/ Legacy Range
The EL3072 or the EL3074 has preset the scaling (Scaler, “AI Advanced settings” Object 0x80nD:12) "Extended Range". This type of scaling allows the actual measuring range to be exceeded or undershot by approx. 7%. The technically usable range is therefore -107% to +107% of the respective full scale value. Example: full scale value = ±10 V then the technical measuring range is c.a. -10.7 V...+10.7 V. The Legacy Range, on the other hand, represents the conventional range from -100% to 100% (e.g. usable range -10 to +10 V) and +100% corresponds to +32767 (-100% -32768).
For the Extended Range the PDO value ±30518 (0x7736) has been defined as 100% for 16 bits. As a result, the bit meaning with the (user-selected measuring range) full scale value (FSV) is as follows:
