Introduction

Introduction 1:
Fig.1: EL2521

EtherCAT Terminal, 1 channel pulse train output, incremental encoder simulation, RS422, 50 mA

The EL2521 output terminal sends a pulse train to downstream receiving devices, such as motor output stages. For this purpose, it has 2 output channels A and B on the hardware side, the relationship between which can be set, e.g. as a direction-dependent encoder characteristic. The EL2521 supports two functions

The EtherCAT Terminals indicate their signal state by means of light-emitting diodes. The LEDs are clocked with the outputs and each displays an active output.

The EL2521 has two RS422 outputs and two digital inputs, +T and +Z. The inputs can be used, for example, to read the “Ready”, “In target”, or “At speed” signals from a variable frequency drive and process them in the control. The signals are not given any pre-processing.

Introduction 2:

Pulse width modulation is not possible

Pulse width modulation is not possible with the EL2521-xxxx series EtherCAT devices.
