Configuring PWM outputs | ModuleIdent 0x1009C8
The following section describes the parameterization of the PWM outputs.
Changing the duty cycle | “PWM Duty Cycle” process data value
- The duty cycle for the PWM output can be set separately for each channel and adjusted cyclically.
- The value is expressed as [0…100%]. The pulse pause is calculated automatically as the difference from a 100% pulse duration. The following relationships apply:
PWM Duty Cycle | Duty Cycle in % |
|---|---|
0.1 | 10% |
0.5 | 50% |
1 | 100% |
Changing the output frequency | “PWM Frequency” process data value
- The output frequency of the PWM signal can be specified in Hz using the “PWM Frequency” process data value and can be changed cyclically.
- The resolution of the output signal depends on the specified frequency or period. This can be read for each channel in index 0x80nE:01, “Timer Resolution”.
- Value range 1 Hz…64,000 Hz

Specifying invalid duty cycle and frequency values If the specified duty cycle or frequency value is outside the valid output range, then

Output signal range
The following table shows the valid range of values for the output signal.
Output signal range | |
|---|---|
Pulse duration | TON | typ. > 320 ns |
Pulse duration | TOFF | typ. > 320 ns |
Output frequency | 1 Hz…64 kHz |
