Configuring Realtime Ethernet
The Ethernet interface (X101/X102) of the CX8190 Embedded PC supports the real-time Ethernet protocol and can be configured as a master. The real-time Ethernet protocol is configured in TwinCAT.
Following the configuration you can scan for Bus Couplers and operate them as decentralized nodes. There is fundamentally no limit to the number of Bus Couplers that can be connected to the CX8190 Embedded PC. However, it is recommended to limit the number to 10 nodes.
Requirements:
- The CX8190 Embedded PC has been selected as the target system.
Configure real-time Ethernet as follows:
- 1. In the tree view on the left, right-click on Devices.
- 2. Click on Add New Item
in the context menu. The Insert Device window appears. - 3. Click on Ethernet in the tree view and select Real Time Ethernet Protocol (BK90xx, AX2000-B900).
- 4. Click on RT-Ethernet Protocol in the tree list.
- 5. Click on the Adapter tab and then on Search.
- 6. Select the CCAT adapter.
No adapter will be displayed if you have not created a CCAT adapter in TwinCAT. Create a CCAT adapter if you use real-time capable protocols.
- The CCAT adapter appears under Adapter Reference.
You have successfully configured the real-time Ethernet protocol. Connect further devices with real-time Ethernet to the Ethernet interface (X101/X102). Then switch the CX8190 to Config mode and scan for the devices.
