Creating a virtual slave
System load when using the virtual slave Each PROFINET or Ethernet device that is connected via the switch of the CX7293 increases the system load. The number of devices running via the switch should not exceed 25. The devices in the opposite direction must also be counted. |
The virtual slave interface makes it possible to create a second virtual device (slave) on the same hardware interface. This allows the user to exchange more data with a PROFINET controller or establish a connection to a second PROFINET controller.
Since the ports X101 and X102 are switched via the hardware and only possess a real MAC address, that of the virtual PROFINET device is editable and the user himself is responsible for ensuring that these MAC addresses only occur once in his system. The IP address is assigned by the PROFINET controller and cannot be registered in the operating system. This means that non-PROFINET services such as ADS etc. do not work via this IP address.
- 1. Right-click on the device in the System Manager tree and then click on Add New Item.
- 2. Select the CX7xxx in the Insert Box window to create a virtual slave.
- 3. Assign a unique name to the device and adjust the MAC address, whereby only the last byte of the MAC address can be edited.
