Configure the serial interface (N03x)
This chapter explains how to configure a CX51x0 with serial interface (N03x) in TwinCAT.
The procedure for commissioning the CX51x0-N03x with serial interface under TwinCAT differs from that for other embedded PCs. In order to avoid configuration errors, the procedure for adding and configuring the CX51x0 in TwinCAT is described below.
Requirements for this step:
- A scanned and selected target system.
- The description applies to TwinCAT 2 from TC2.11.2248 and TwinCAT 3 from TC3.1.4018
Configure the CX51x0-N03x as follows:
- 1. In the tree view on the left, right-click on Devices.
- 2. Click on Scan in the context menu.
The new I/O Devices found window appears. - 3. Select the device with a COM port and confirm the selection with OK.
The CX51x0-N03x is added in TwinCAT as a Device (COM port) on the left in the tree view. - 4. Click on Device (COM Port) and then on the Serial Port tab.
- 5. Select the PCI/PCIe device option in the Serial Port tab.
The serial interface of the CX51x0 is displayed under Port:.
If you have already selected the Onboard/ISA device option, the PCI/PCIe device option is grayed out and cannot be selected.
The option PCI/PCIe device can be re-enabled as follows: - 6. Click on the Search button.
The Device Found At window appears.
- 7. Click on the COM port and then on OK.
The PCI/PCIe device option is activated again.
- You have successfully added and configured the CX51x0 with serial interface (N031x) in TwinCAT. You can now add further devices to the device and continue with the configuration as usual.
