Connections CX2500-0031

Connections CX2500-0031 1:

The CX2500-0031 system interface features two RS422 / RS 485 interfaces. The interfaces are realized via two 9 pin Sub-D plug connectors (X310 and X310). If there is need for more than two serial interfaces up to four modules further RS422 / RS485 interfaces can be added to the system. Thus 9 serial interfaces (four CX2500-0031 modules and the optional interface CX20x0-N031) can be added to the CX20x0 system. The optional interface CX20x0-N031 is shown in the system as COM1. The pin assignment for all interfaces is equal and described below.

The maximum baud rate on both channels is 128 kBit. The interface parameter can be set in the operating system or in the PLC program.

For RS 485 Pin 2 and 3 (Data +) as well as Pin7 and 8 (Data -) have to be connected.

Setting the interface parameter

If the system interface CX2500-0031 is disconnected from the CX20x0 unit it is easy to access the dip switches. Details on the disconnection procedure can be found in the chapter decommissioning. The dip switches for the configuration of the RS422/485 interfaces can be found at the left side of the module. On the left side you can see the switch:

Connections CX2500-0031 3:

The switch sets the parameters for RS422 or RS485 mode. The mode is set for both interfaces. If you need RS422 and RS485 you need two interface modules CX2500-0031.
A small screwdriver helps to set the switches carefully. The system must be powered down, if the settings of the switches are changed!

Setting DIP-Switches for RS485-mode:

For the RS485-mode is no echo and no termination available. The mode for send and receive is controlled automatically. If a termination is needed it must be realized via the connector.

Setting DIP-Switches for RS422-mode:

As RS422 is full duplex, there can be no echo selected either. The termination is the same as RS485, but on the receiving ends of each pair. This has to be done at the connector.

The order of the system interfaces in the operation system is counted from right to left (CPU view) and up to down (X311 -> COM n and X310 -> COM n + 1 for n={3, 5, 7, 9} ).

Connections CX2500-0031 4:

If the configuration of the system interfaces is changed the order in the operation system. For a proper order of the system interfaces is a good advice to remove the interfaces manually in the device manager.

To remove the driver open the context menu by pressing the right mouse button and select "uninstall"

Connections CX2500-0031 5:

In the following dialog it is very important to leave the driver in the system folders. To do so do NOT select the box in the dialog.

Connections CX2500-0031 6:

If all serial interfaces are removed in the device manager (except COM1) the system must be shut down. Disconnect the power supply to perform a cold start later.

Connections CX2500-0031 7:

Change the module configuration. If you have changed the configuration, power the system. The operating system restarts and all modules are ordered in the way described above.
