10G Ethernet interface, SFP+ (N167)

With the N167 optional interface, the CX20x2 can be equipped ex factory with a total of two SFP+ slots for SFP transceivers. The SFP+ slots are implemented in the upper device front of the embedded PC and support data transfer rates of 1 Gbit/s or 10 Gbit/s. Data transfer rates of 100 Mbit/s, 2.5 Gbit/s, and 5 Gbit/s are not supported.

SFP transceivers and SFP modules

An SFP slot is a port into which standardized modules can be inserted for connecting network connections. These modules are called SFP transceivers.

SFP transceivers or SFP modules are available in many different designs. The modular and standardized concept thus offers a high degree of flexibility in the selection of suitable interfaces. All SFP+ multi-mode and single-mode modules are supported. SFP+ modules of type LRM/ER/ZR are not supported.

Advantages

SFP transceivers or SFP modules are quick and easy to replace. The network devices can be easily converted to other transmission technologies and media.

If new standards or technologies are available, the embedded PC equipped with SFP slots is future-proof. The embedded PC can be easily equipped with new SFP modules and supports the current connection variants. The embedded PC can be used more flexibly, as it can be integrated into any existing network infrastructure with the appropriate SFP modules.
