Loss of data

Using the 1-second UPS in a way that is not documented as an option can lead to loss or corruption of data.

  • Use only TwinCAT to control the 1-second UPS and save only persistent data with a maximum size of 1 MB.

The device can optionally be ordered with an internal uninterruptible power supply (UPS). This is a capacitive 1-second UPS for reliable saving of persistent application data on the storage medium. This requires TwinCAT and Windows Embedded Compact 7.

You can order the device with an internal UPS ex factory by specifying the order identifier C9900-U213.

The capacitive 1-second UPS continues to supply the processor with power if the power supply fails. During this time, persistent data can be stored on the storage medium and will be available when the device is turned on again. The UPS only works for a few seconds.
