Changing the standard password

Change the password for the administrator account, which should always be one of the first steps when you get a new system.

Change password in the console

You can change the password of the currently logged-in user with the command passwd. When Beckhoff RT Linux® is delivered, a user (Administrator) is available by default, with which you can log in to the console.

1. Start Beckhoff RT Linux®.
2. Log in with the user name Administrator and the password 1.
3. Enter the command passwd in order to set a new password for Beckhoff RT Linux® . Follow the instructions.
4. The current password is requested first. The new password must then be entered twice. The change takes effect immediately.
You have successfully set a new password for Beckhoff RT Linux® and the user Administrator.
