Product characteristics

Compact design

The integrated stepper motor drives of the ASI8100 series combine stepper motor, stepper motor output stage, and fieldbus connection in a space-saving design for all motion requirements in the power range up to 300 watts.

Integrated power electronics

The integrated power electronics are controlled quickly and easily via EtherCAT and the motor is commissioned with TwinCAT 3 Drive Manger 2.

Machines without control cabinet

The integrated ASI8100 stepper motor drive can be placed directly on the machine as an EtherCAT slave without a control cabinet and without an upstream I/O level in order to implement compact machines without a control cabinet.

NEMA

Adaptation to international flange size standards

Step angle

A small step angle of 1.8° enables high precision and accurate movements.

Electronic identification plate

The electronic identification plate contains all specific data of the drive and can be read directly from the Beckhoff drive system for automatic parameterization.

Daisy Chain

This is the typical daisy-chain configuration of devices in EtherCAT: Each slave typically has two ports (IN/OUT) and is wired in a daisy-chain configuration. No external switches are required; the devices handle the forwarding of the telegram themselves.

Direct control without NC

The integrated motion control (“Drive Motion Control”) via the MDP protocol enables direct control of the ASI8100 without a higher-level NC.

Decentralized Drive Technology

Decentralized drive solutions combine drive and motor technology directly in the field for modular machine concepts. Cascadability, compact design, and the integration of control intelligence enable flexible machine layouts with minimal cabling work.

Integrated I/Os

With two additional I/Os, drive-related functions – such as limit switch detection or position latching – can be efficiently implemented in the PLC.
