Introduction

Introduction 1:

Combined digital inputs and outputs

The EPP2334-0061 EtherCAT P Box has four digital channels, which can each be operated as an input or output. It is not necessary to configure whether a channel (pin 4 of the M8 socket) is to be used as input or output. The input circuit is permanently connected to the output driver internally so that a set output is also automatically displayed in the input process image.

The inputs have a 10 µs filter. The outputs process load currents up to 0.5 A, are short-circuit proof and protected against polarity reversal. The sum current of all outputs is limited to 3 A. The connected sensors are supplied via an internal, short-circuit proof driver block with a total of 0.5 A for all sensors. The inputs and outputs are supplied from UP. The signal state is displayed by LEDs; the signal connection is established via screw-type M8 connectors.

Thanks to its compact design and the number of signals, the EPP2334-0061 is particularly suitable for connecting distributed, decentralized sensors and actuators to EtherCAT P.

Introduction 2:

Supply of the connected sensors from UP, not from US

In contrast to many other modules, the EPP2334-0061 EtherCAT P Box modules supply digital sensors from the peripheral voltage UP, rather than from the control voltage US. This is because the connections can be used either as input or output. Nevertheless, an overload of the sensor supply (current > 0.5 A) is also indicated here by red lighting of the LED US.
